Who We Are

We have been serving Eastwood and the surrounding Louisville suburban area for 16 years. Located just across from the Eastwood Post Office, we have 5 greenhouses, 2 covered display areas, 6 open growing areas and a small Garden Center spread over 9 acres.

Few realize the amount of work that goes into a successful vegetable garden or the tons of labor involved in making your yard and landscaping look perfect. We do--and because we do, we are dedicated to helping others bring their dream yards and gardens out of the dirt and to fruition.

Serving clients in surrounding areas of Louisville KY, including Simpsonville KY, Shelbyville KY, Fisherville KY, Mount Washington KY, Taylorsville KY, Middletown KY & beyond, stop in and see what we can "grow" together!

Our Staff

Debbie Hartlage is the owner/manager of Walnut Grove. Debbie purchased the Louisville nursery because it reminded her of a place called Kitty's which she loved to visit growing up in the Brownsboro Road area.

Debbie's background is in retail but anyone who has been involved in the sport of field hockey in the Louisville area may recognize her from the 20 plus years she has spent refereeing, coaching, and playing at every level from grade school to the "Old Lady's" league.

She most enjoys doing the ordering for Walnut Grove because she gets to buy all of the plants and trees she wants. Debbie looks forward to the challenge of helping you find exactly what you need to make your landscape complete.

Ru Doderer Hall is Walnut Grove's primary on site salesperson and off-site design consultant. Ru has a background that includes a stint as an Officer on the Belle of Louisville.

She pursued a degree in Psychology until she discovered the joy of working outdoors surrounded by acres of plants. Ru recently completed a class in Landscape design at the Ohio State Nursery Seminar.

She looks forward to working with you to improve your home's outdoor quality.

Joan Lerman is Walnut Grove's artist in residence. "Aunt Joanie" works part time in sales and plant care.

Working at the nursery gives her a break from her responsibility as the founder of Audubon Hospital's Lerman Music Library and as the buyer for the gift shop at The Temple.

At Walnut Grove you will usually find her attending to plants in a greenhouse or display area unless she is off chasing down her beagle, Abby, who likes to explore Eastwood when Joanie works.
